Camano Safe Future Group (CSFG) is a free local community dedicated to helping families prepare thoughtfully for a rapidly changing world.

For much of my adult life, I have studied long-term trends in financial markets, the economy, and society. Over time, I became increasingly concerned that many of the greatest risks facing families are not natural disasters, but broader economic, financial, and social disruptions that can gradually erode security and limit future opportunities.

Those concerns were one of the reasons my wife and I chose to move to Camano Island. Over time, they also led me to create Camano Safe Future Group.

Our focus is not fear or predicting specific events. It is helping families think clearly, recognize meaningful changes, and take practical steps that increase resilience, flexibility, and opportunity over time.

What We Believe

We believe that preparation is most effective when it begins before circumstances force difficult decisions.

We believe that informed families make better choices, maintain greater flexibility, and are more likely to recognize opportunities during periods of change.

We also believe communities become stronger when neighbors know one another, share ideas, and are willing to help each other through challenging times.

Our Approach

Emergency disaster preparedness. Other organizations already do excellent work in that area. Our emphasis is on long-term resilience and thoughtful preparation.

That includes:

• Improving financial flexibility
• Building reasonable reserves
• Paying attention to meaningful trends and emerging risks
• Encouraging practical household readiness
• Strengthening relationships that help families and communities remain steady during uncertain periods

Camano Safe Future Group is a free local effort. There are no dues, products to buy, and no political agenda.

The goal is simple: To help Camano families stay informed, think ahead, and be better prepared for whatever the future may bring.

Our Guiding Principle

CSFG is built on a simple belief: the best interests of individuals, families, and the community are not competing goals—they reinforce one another.

Our purpose is to help individuals and families make informed decisions that strengthen their own future. As members become more knowledgeable, more resilient, and better prepared, the entire community becomes stronger.

Healthy communities are built by strong families. Personal responsibility, voluntary cooperation, and shared knowledge create benefits that extend far beyond any one household.

We don’t ask members to sacrifice their interests for the group. Instead, we encourage actions that are in each family’s long-term best interest while naturally contributing to a stronger, more resilient community.

That is how lasting communities are built—one family at a time.
